St. Catherine’s Church

St. Catherine’s Catholic Church has been an established parish in Orange Park since 1877 and has seen a great deal of growth in its over 120 year history. ALS was commissioned to conduct an evaluation of the parish to determine the most effective method for addressing its growing needs. After holding numerous parish meetings and evaluating the existing church, the conclusion was reached that an expansion and renovation of the existing church would best serve the parish’s needs.  This process resulted in a program of work which includes a 25% increase in seating capacity, modifications to the roof structure for increased natural light, enhanced lighting and sound systems, enlarged daily mass chapel, meditation garden, redesigned ancillary spaces including the addition of a separate room for preparation of weddings and funerals, enhanced reconciliation chapels, and site improvements to better facilitate traffic flow and provisions for a covered drop-off for elderly parishioners.  ALS was also responsible for coordinating the program for new religious artwork in the church.
