Macclenny Elementary School

Akel, Logan, and Shafer was responsible for planning, design, construction documents and construction administration for a new 97,000 square foot, 800-student elementary school to serve Baker County, Florida.  This school serves grades Kindergarten through Grade 3 for the entire county.  Also included are facilities for physically handicapped children.

School amenities include a media center, full service kitchen, and a complete computer network system serving all classrooms and is equipped with three computer laboratories each capable of serving an entire class.  The school is also connected by fiber optic line to the school district’s central network.

The cafeteria/ multipurpose area has been designed as an Enhanced Hurricane Protection Area, the first in Baker County, capable of accommodating 340 people.

This project was constructed through the Department of Education Special Facilities Funding program.
